Interlibrary Loan (ILL) & LINK+

Deadline for requesting loans from Interlibrary Loan is Sunday, November 30, 2008

These deadlines are imposed so that requested materials come in time for this semester's research.

Please note: These services are available to current students, faculty, and staff of The Claremont Colleges.

Important:

Our Interlibrary Loan department has begun using a software program called ILLiad to process all interlibrary loans. This new system will allow you to be continuously apprised of the status of your interlibrary loan requests. You will need to register with the new system, but only the first time you use it. For more information see our ILLiad FAQ page.

Connect to Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows you to request articles that are not available in the Libraries either as online full-text or in paper. You can also use ILL to request a book if it is not owned by any LINK+ libraries.

Connect to LINK+

LINK+ allows you to request a book from another library when the Libraries don't own the book and also when our copy is checked out.

What types of materials do you want to request?

  • Articles in journals/magazines/newspapers
    • First check Blais by TITLE of the journal/magazine/newspaper to see if the Libraries own the item you need. Be sure to note the dates for which we own the item.
    • Use ILL if the Libraries don't own the journal/magazine/newspaper for the date you want. (Note: LINK+ is only for books; you cannot use LINK+ to request articles.)
  • Books
    • First check Blais to see if the Libraries own the book you need.
    • Try LINK+ first.
    • Use ILL if the book is not in Blais or LINK+
  • Dissertations
    • Check Blais by dissertation title or author to see if the Libraries own a copy.
    • Check Dissertations & Theses to see if you can download an electronic copy of the dissertation you want.
    • Use ILL if the dissertation you want is not available in the Libraries or electronically.
