Inter-governmental Organizations (IGO’s)

What is an IGO? IGO’s are established by instruments similar to international treaties. Two examples are the United Nations and OECD. They all have three characteristics.

They are based on a formal instrument of agreement between the governments of nation states.
They include three or more nation states.
They must produce and publish documentation about the organization and its activities through a permanent secretariat.
